Fellowship Application Process

HOW TO APPLY

If you will complete your Master's degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or Public Health from an accredited program during the 2017-2018 school year, you are a candidate for the UCLA Administrative Fellowship. Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience in a hospital or health care environment. Please complete an online application at http://www.uclahealthcareers.org with the reference Job Code H91941 by September 29, 2017. The documents mentioned below should be uploaded as a single, consolidated PDF as part of your online application. All materials must be completed for consideration. E-mail inquiries can be directed to: AdminFellowship@mednet.ucla.edu.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements include the following:

  • Recent completion of an MBA, MHA, MPH, MSN or Master's degree in related field by Summer of 2018
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills

Our Human Resources Staffing Office reviews all applications and forwards applications of potential candidates to the Administrative Fellowship Candidate Selection Committee At the time the online application is submitted, candidates will be required to upload the following documents to the online application:

  • STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
  • RESUME/CV
  • TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION/REFERENCES (Please address to Dear Selection Committee)
  • CURRENT ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT (Official or Non-official)

FAQs


Who oversees the UCLA Health Administrative Fellowship Program?
Johnese Spisso, the President and CEO of UCLA Health and the UCLA Hospitals and Clinics, is the primary preceptor for the Fellowship. In addition to Johnese, the Operations team will help will help assist the Fellow throughout the year and provide coaching and guidance on a day-to-day basis.


How is the Fellowship structured? Is it rotational or project-based?
The Fellowship is a 12-month, project-based program. The Fellow will get to see and experience all areas of UCLA Health. Additionally, we will do our best to accommodate interests when projects become available.


Is the Fellowship a paid position?
Fellows are considered full-time employees and are paid a salary for the 12-month duration of the program. As such, the Fellow is eligible for employee benefits including health insurance coverage, retirement savings, and paid time off. For more information, please visit www.uclahealthcareers.org.

How many Fellows will UCLA Health hire in the 2018-2019 Fellowship year?
UCLA Health will hire one Fellow.


What specific graduate degrees are accepted for application to the program?
MBA, MHA, MPH, MSN or a related masters degree from an accredited program. Graduate programs with a required fellowship or residency prior to graduation are eligible.


Will UCLA accept Fellows who obtained their graduate degree in previous years?
No, we only accept Fellows who have recently graduated from their program.


Are international applicants eligible for consideration?
UCLA Health will consider complete applications from all qualified applicants. It will be the responsibility of the selected Fellow to complete all required documentation for an international visa.

Can applicants submit materials electronically?
Yes.  All applicants must submit materials electronically including their online application, resume/CV, official transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a statement of purpose.  Official transcripts and letters of recommendation may be scanned and uploaded with the online application or emailed to adminfellowship@mednet.ucla.edu .


What is the timeline for the application process?
All dates subject to change.

Late September All completed applications received by the application deadline will be reviewed.
Mid October A select group of candidates will be invited to participate in telephone interviews.
Early November A further select group will be invited to Los Angeles for a series of in-person interviews with the Hospital Executive Team.
Early November Decisions will be made and an offer extended to the selected fellow(s) by the end of October.
